The steam locomotive series kkStB 108 was an express train - steam locomotive series with a tender of the kk Austrian State Railways (kkStB) and the Südbahn .

At the same time as the ÖNWB XVIb and the kkStB 106 , the kkStB also put a new series of the type 2'B1 'into operation in 1901 . Karl Gölsdorf only had them built in series after many years of study. These machines, designated as series  108 , were the first four-cylinder compound locomotives with this axle formula. All four cylinders drove the first axle. The 108s reached 143 km / h without any problems, but could only be allowed up to 100 km / h for signal and braking reasons. The continuous output was 1400 hp with a peak output of 1600 hp. The 86 series tenders  were also a new design by Gölsdorf, which made cross-country skiing possible for the 108 series.

By 1910, 25 of this series had been delivered by the Bohemian-Moravian Machine Factory , the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik and the StEG locomotive factory .

From 1903 to 1908 the Südbahn also procured eleven pieces of the 108 series  (108.211-221), which were supplied by the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik and the StEG locomotive factory . These locomotives were equipped with a three-axle tender because of the shorter turntables of the Southern Railway.

After the First World War , the kkStB-108s came to ČSD , where they were henceforth run as the 275.0 series  . The ČSD withdrew these locomotives until 1948. The Südbahn-108er came after the nationalization in 1923 to the BBÖ , which they separated from the stock until 1934.
