The steam locomotive series kkStB Gv was a narrow gauge - Tender Locomotive series of Imperial State Railways of Austria , which for the former horse railway Budweis-Linz-Gmunden was procured.
The four machines were composite locomotives with internal frames and external controls, which Krauss in Linz delivered from 1895 to 1899 . In contrast to the first two, Gv.3 and Gv.4 received somewhat larger coal bunkers and water boxes, and a Kobel chimney was installed.
The kkStB procured these locomotives with the unusual gauge of the horse-drawn railway of 1106 mm already in view of the upcoming gauge change to 1435 mm. The conversion to standard gauge tank locomotives kkStB 189.01-04 actually took place in 1903 .
