The Klambach (also Clambach ) arises from the confluence of the Klausbach and Käfermühlbach west of Oberkalmberg in the municipality of Bad Kreuzen and flows into the Schwemmnaarn in the municipality of Saxen, southeast of the village of Saxendorf bei Wetzelsdorf, together with the Saxenerbach . It is the main body of water in the Klamer Basin .

Water network

With a catchment area of ​​97.4 square kilometers, the brook has the largest sub-catchment area of ​​the Naarn waterway network and has been mapped over a length of 9.5 kilometers. In the Klamschlucht along the boundary between Klam and Baumgartenberg two are hydroelectric power plants operated.

The Käfermühlbach rises south-east of the Reitererberg in the municipality of St. Thomas am Blasenstein at an altitude of 650  m above sea level. A. It has been mapped 9.6 kilometers in length and has a drainage area of ​​24.3 square kilometers.

The Klausbach is called Senfmühlbach in the middle course and Willersdorferbach in the upper course and rises at an altitude of 600  m above sea level. The Schurzmühlbach and the Maselsdorferbach are tributaries.

The Schurzmühlbach is called Forstbach in the upper course and rises west of the Großhöller farmstead in the municipality of Pabneukirchen at about 700  m above sea level. A. and has been mapped over a length of 12 kilometers. The catchment area covers 23.2 square kilometers and flows into the Klausbach at Gasthof Stilles Tal in the municipality of Bad Kreuzen.
The Maselsdorferbach rises at the northern foot of the Hochbuchberg on the border between Pabneukirchen and Königswiesen at an altitude of 700  m above sea level. A. and has been mapped over a length of 6.4 kilometers. It has a catchment area of ​​16.3 square kilometers and flows into the Klausbach south of the village of Hollerberg on the municipality of Pabneukirchen.

History and economic use

In the 19th century, 25 grinding mills with 52 grinding operations, 22 board saws, 7 hammer forges, 3 oil presses and 1 fulling mill were registered along the Clambach. South of the Klamschlucht gorge , the storm mill was restored and turned into a museum and cultural center.
