The oiratische font or plain text or clear font ( Mongolian Тодо бичиг todo bitschig , English Clear script ) was established in 1648 by the oiratischen Buddhist monk Zaya-pandita Namkhaijamco for the writing of the Mongolian created. It was created on the basis of the traditional Mongolian script with the aim of bringing the orthography closer to the actual pronunciation and facilitating the transcription of Tibetan and Sanskrit .
The script was used by the Kalmyks of Russia until 1924 when it was replaced by the Cyrillic alphabet . In Xinjiang Autonomous Region , China , the Oirats continue to use it , although Chahar-Mongolian is taught in Mongolian education across China.
