Klaus-Georg Hengstberger (born March 9, 1930 in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim ) is a German local politician and patron .

Life

Hengstberger was born in 1930 into a family of doctors in Untertürkheim. Hengstberger studied law and economics in Heidelberg and Tübingen . In 1949 he became a member of the Roigel Royal Society of Tübingen . After the legal traineeship, he did his doctorate in 1956 under Ernst Forsthoff . In 1956 Hengstberger came to Böblingen and joined the Adolf Reisser company. In 1968 Hengstberger rose to head the pressure pipe and sewerage department. The commercial lawyer was ultimately the managing director of the plumbing company until 1996.

In 1997, Klaus-Georg Hengstberger took over the majority of the automotive supplier PWO AG with headquarters in Oberkirch-Stadelhofen through his company Consult Invest and was a member of the supervisory board there until 2013. With the departure of the Düker family, he took over Eisenwerke Düker as the main shareholder in 2004 and also became its chairman of the supervisory board.

He is with Sigrid, geb. Reisser, married. They have two sons.

Local and socio-political engagement

In his commitment to local politics, he followed his uncle Georg Hengstberger , who was appointed mayor of the city of Böblingen by the French governor in 1945 and was elected district administrator of the Böblingen district a little later. From 1962 to 2004 Klaus-Georg was for the free voters in the city council of the city of Böblingen. From 1971 to 1998 he was parliamentary group chairman, longer than any other group chairman in Böblingen. From 1971 to 1973 and 1979 to 2009 he was also a member of the Böblingen district council. Here he was particularly active in the hospital committee and in the subsequent supervisory board of the Southwest Clinic Association .

In addition to his work in local politics, he was also involved in the self-governing institutions of the economy for the Böblingen area and the Stuttgart region. From 1985 to 1993, Hengstberger acted as Vice President of the Boeblingen District Chamber of the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce and Industry and then as its President until 2004. He was then appointed honorary president. Hengstberger also worked for more than 30 years as an honorary judge at the Chamber of Commerce at the Stuttgart Regional Court .

Klaus-Georg Hengstberger also made a special contribution to founding and managing the Böblingen - Sindelfingen (SBS) software center . »In addition to the difficult negotiation and development phase, as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the SBS, he gave the project decisive impetus. To this day, he is an important volunteer contact person within the software center, «explained Oettinger.

Hengstberger is a founding member of the Böblinger Community Foundation and was its first chairman from 2005 to 2013. He is a patron of several art collections. As one of the main sponsors of the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden , he is a member of the board of trustees of the house's cultural foundation. With the Hengstberger Foundation, established in 1997, an annual research grant is offered and since 2003 the Klaus-Georg and Sigrid Hengstberger Prize has been awarded to three young scientists from Heidelberg University.
