Klaus-Peter Matziol

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klaus-Peter Matziol (born September 29, 1950 in Hanover ) is a German bass player and composer . He was best known for his membership in Eloy .

Matziol started playing guitar as a teenager . With his second band, "The Generals", he already appeared in the opening act for the Rattles and the Lords . In 1968 he met his later Eloy colleague Jürgen Rosenthal , with whom he founded “Morrision Gulf”. Morrison Gulf was followed by “Boorturm”, where he finally switched to the electric bass and his first EP was recorded.

In 1976 he met Frank Bornemann , who was looking for musicians for the new Eloy formation. Matziol initially remained bassist with Eloy until 1984, from 1991 onwards there was a gradual return. Since 1994 he has been a full member of the band again and is considered the Eloy bassist par excellence because of his special style of playing.

A first solo project appeared in 1983 ("Matze" / "Run for cover"). After separating from Eloy in 1984, further solo projects followed, as well as projects with predominantly former Eloy musicians. Matziol has been working full-time in tour management since the beginning of the 1990s, and is now managing director of Peter Rieger Konzertagentur GmbH & Co. KG.
