Klaus-Robert Müller (born December 29, 1964 in Karlsruhe ) is a German physicist and computer scientist whose research focuses on brain-computer interfaces and machine learning .

Career

After graduating from his physics studies in Karlsruhe in 1989, he received his doctorate in 1992 at the Institute for Computer Science there. Müller then worked at the GMD Research Center for Information Technology in Berlin and after visiting the University of Illinois (1994) and the University of Tokyo (1995) became head of the "Intelligent data analysis group" at the GMD Research Institute for Computer Architecture and Software Technology (FIRST), today Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Architecture and Software Technology .

In 1999 Müller was appointed professor for neuroinformatics at the University of Potsdam, and in 2004 he took over the professorship for neural networks and time series analysis there. Since 2006 he has held the chair for machine learning at the Technical University of Berlin . In addition to other activities as a visiting scientist and research professor, he has been co-director of the Berlin Big Data Center at the TU since 2014.

Research areas
