Klaus Christian Köhnke

Klaus Christian Köhnke (born June 14, 1953 in Flensburg ; † May 24, 2013 in Berlin ) was professor of cultural theory and cultural philosophy at the Institute for Cultural Studies at the University of Leipzig .

Life

Klaus Christian Köhnke studied philosophy , literature and linguistics (at times also Scandinavian studies and art history , history and ethnology ) at the Free University of Berlin and the Berlin University of the Arts . He received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation and received his doctorate from Karlfried Gründer in 1985 on the emergence and rise of Neo-Kantianism - after the death of his supervisor Michael Landmann . In 1986 he was awarded the Ernst Reuter Prize for his dissertation.

From 1986 to 1990 Köhnke worked on several research projects by Otthein Rammstedt at Bielefeld University . From 1987 to 1989 he worked as head of the cultural studies department at the Faculty of Economics at the Nordic University of Flensburg . 1990–1996 he was research assistant to Karlfried Gründer at the Institute for the History of Philosophy and the History of the Humanities at the Free University of Berlin, where he received his habilitation in 1995 in philosophy. After a substitute from 1996–1997, he took over the professorship for cultural theory and cultural philosophy at the Institute for Cultural Studies at the University of Leipzig in 1997 .

Köhnke worked, researched and published, among other things, on the cultural-philosophical tradition of Moritz Lazarus , Georg Simmel and Ernst Cassirer . He was one of the main editors of the unpublished writings of Ernst Cassirer (post-processed manuscripts and texts, Felix Meiner Verlag , Hamburg 1995 ff.) And editor of numerous volumes of the Georg Simmel Complete Edition (GSG, Suhrkamp Verlag , Frankfurt / M. 1989ff.).
