Klaus Dechant

Klaus Dechant (born May 24, 1928 in Halle (Saale) ; † February 20, 2020 ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party DBD . He was chairman of the district board of hall of the DBD.

Life

Dechant, son of a teacher , attended elementary school and completed an apprenticeship in agriculture between 1945 and 1948. In 1949 he joined the DBD. He qualified as a state-certified farmer to agronomist and his doctorate in 1968. Dr. agr. at the University of Agriculture and Food Management in Bernburg (Saale) .

Dechant worked for several years as the deputy director of the Institute for Agriculture at the Council of the Halle District and as head of the scientific and technical center of the Agriculture and Food Management Department of the Halle District Council. From 1977 he was a member of the secretariat of the Halle district board of the DBD. From May 1982 to 1990 Dechant acted as chairman of the district board of the DBD and was a member of the party board of the DBD.

From 1966 to 1990 he was a member of the Halle District Assembly . Dechant was also a member of the district committee of the National Front of the GDR .
