Kurt Burkhardt

Kurt Burkhardt (born November 29, 1915 in Kriebitzsch near Altenburg ; † March 23, 1993 ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party DBD . He was chairman of the Halle district board of the DBD as well as a member of the People's and State Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Burkhardt, the son of a miner , attended elementary school and learned to be a fitter from 1930 to 1934. He then worked in this profession. After his military service, he took part in World War II and was taken prisoner of war .

After his release in 1945 he initially worked as a farm worker, then got a new farmer's position in Neutz ( Saalkreis ). In 1945 he joined the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid , and in 1948 the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD). In 1954 he became a member of the Free German Trade Union Federation .

In 1949 he became chairman of the local group Neutz of the DBD, from 1950 to 1952 he was chairman of the Halle / Saalkreis district board . In 1950 Burkhardt attended the regional party school of the DBD, in 1951 the central party school of the DBD. In 1952 he was one of the first to set up an agricultural production cooperative (LPG) in Neutz . From 1952 to 1960 and again from 1966 to 1971 he was chairman of the Halle district board of the DBD. From 1956 to 1958 Burkhardt studied agricultural sciences by distance learning, and social sciences in 1963/1964.

From 1953 to 1982 Burkhardt was a member of the party executive committee of the DBD, was also a member of its presidium from 1960 to 1967 and from 1960 to 1966 also a member of the presidium's secretariat, where he was responsible for the main organization department. In 1982 he became a member of the DBD party arbitration tribunal.

From 1954 to 1960 Burkhardt was a member of the Halle district assembly and from 1954 to 1958 a member of the regional chamber and chairman of the DBD parliamentary group there. From 1963 to 1971 he was a member of the People's Chamber and a member of the budget and finance committee. As a veteran in Neutz, he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold in 1985.
