Klaus Dubis

Klaus Dubis (born March 16, 1938 in Merano ; † March 3, 2010 in Bolzano ) was a South Tyrolean politician, lawyer, judge, university professor and Italian State Councilor.

Life

Klaus Dubis was born as the second of three sons to a family of merchants from Merano. After attending the classical lyceum in his hometown, he studied law at the University of Perugia . After graduating, he worked as a lawyer, first in his own law firm in Merano, then in Bolzano. His teacher was Roland Riz . In 1965 he married Inge Parth, a woman from Bolzano, with whom he had two daughters. He initially worked as a university lecturer in Padua , later he was invited to the University of Innsbruck as an honorary professor , where he taught administrative law for many years.

Dubis was appointed to the Merano City Council in 1969, where he worked as a consultant for schools, culture and sport. Within the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP), he was significantly involved in building up the youth of the party, the Young Generation (JG), and was elected deputy state youth officer at the first regular regional youth assembly in 1970. In 1973 he was elected to the South Tyrolean state parliament and at the same time to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol , to which he was a member for ten years. During these years he was a member of the regional government from 1974 to 1984 as assessor for trade, industry and handicrafts and from 1978 to 1983 parliamentary group spokesman for his party in the state parliament. In particular, Dubis was involved in receiving German-language television and radio programs in South Tyrol and created the legal basis for the establishment of the Rundfunk-Anstalt Südtirol (RAS), of which he was the first president from 1975.

In 1980 Dubis founded the weekly magazine ff - “TV and Leisure” . As chairman of the 1st legislative commission in the South Tyrolean state parliament, he worked out the draft law in 1983, which provided for the establishment of the South Tyrolean Ombudsman's Office . His political career ended with his nomination in 1983 for the Council of State (highest administrative court in Italy with seat in Rome), of which he was a member until 2009.
