Klaus Ebert (born February 13, 1949 in Münster ; † December 3, 2003 ibid) was a German painter and long-time chancellor (chairman) of the Free Artist Community Schanze in Münster.

life and work

Klaus Ebert studied from 1971 to 1975 at the WKS / Fachhochschule Münster , department of design , with Bernd Damke . From 1981 to 1984 he taught at the University of Dortmund .

Ebert earned lasting merits through his involvement in the Free Artist Community Schanze : Ebert had been a member since 1975, he was elected Chancellor (chairman) of the association in 1982 and held this office for a total of 15 years (1982–1988 and 1992–2000). In his chancellorship he made intensive contacts to the Dutch art scene, especially to Enschede , but also to the twin cities of Münster and the then new federal states.

Klaus Ebert developed an unmistakably independent style of painting: he increasingly concentrated on the subject of the coastal landscape, approaching an ever higher degree of abstraction. In his later work, a few lines are sufficient to reveal the anatomy of the coast. The colors have been greatly reduced, the landscape is only composed of sharply separated areas of color, mostly in slightly nuanced shades of gray.

Klaus Ebert died in December 2003 after a serious illness at the age of 54.
