Klaus Haupt

Klaus Dieter Haupt (born May 29, 1943 in Jena ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 1995 to 1997 he was chairman of the FDP in Saxony and from 1998 to 2005 a member of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After attending the Polytechnic High School, Haupt went from 1959 to 1962 to the Institute for Teacher Training in Weimar, specializing in the lower level. From 1961 to 1989 he worked as a teacher in Hoyerswerda . In 1967 he began teaching at the Potsdam University of Education , which he finished in 1971 as a graduate teacher .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Haupt was elected as an alderman for education, culture, sport and tourism in the Hoyerswerda district office. He held this office until 1995. From 1990 to 1994 he was both city councilor and FDP parliamentary group chairman in Hoyerswerda. From 1996 to 1998 Haupt held the position of managing director of the “Elstertal” association.

Klaus Haupt is widowed and has two sons.

Haupt has been involved in the LDPD since 1986 and became a member of the FDP after reunification. From 1995 to 1997 he was chairman of the FDP Saxony and was a member of the federal executive committee in this function. From 1997 to 1999 Haupt was deputy FDP state chairman. From 1998 to 2005 he was district chairman of the FDP in Kamenz / Hoyerswerda.

Klaus Haupt was a member of the German Bundestag for two legislative terms from October 26, 1998 to 2005 . During this time he was a member of the German Bundestag's children's commission . Haupt ran in the Bundestag constituency Kamenz - Hoyerswerda - Großenhain .
