Klaus Kübel

Klaus Kübel (born February 11, 1941 in Groß Teschendorf near Elbing , West Prussia ; † December 1, 2008 ) was a German lawyer. From 1990 to 2007 he was Chancellor of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena .

Life

Klaus Kübel first studied philology at the University of Hamburg , but then switched to law at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , and later at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . He completed his legal clerkship in Stuttgart and Giessen. He passed both state exams with distinction. At the University of Giessen in 1985 he was with a thesis on Staff and personnel actions with summa cum laude for Dr. iur. PhD .

He entered the civil service in 1972 and worked in the university administration of Giessen University. Later he was administrative director of the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg and Deputy Chancellor of the University of Gießen.

At the end of 1990 Klaus Kübel moved to Jena as part of the administrative assistance of the State of Hesse , where he took on the role of Chancellor of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. He rebuilt today's entire university in the wake of German reunification and had a major impact on the University of Jena. In addition, from 1994 to 2002 Kübel was an honorary judge at the specialist senate for staff representation matters at the Thuringian Higher Administrative Court in Weimar .

In 2007 he retired. His services to the University of Jena were thanked with an honorary doctorate .
