Klaus Lüderssen
Klaus Lüderssen (born May 2, 1932 in Germerode ; † June 4, 2016 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German legal scholar and legal sociologist .
Career
After studying law at the Universities of Marburg and Frankfurt am Main , Lüderssen passed the first state examination in law in 1957. The assessor exam followed in 1962. In 1965 Lüderssen received his doctorate with a thesis “On the punishment of participation” with Wolfgang Preiser and Friedrich Geerds in Frankfurt. The habilitation took place there in 1970 ("Experience as a legal source").
He then received a professorship at the University of Göttingen before returning to Frankfurt in 1971 for a C4 professorship, where he has since taught criminal law , criminal procedural law , legal philosophy and legal sociology . In 1975 he turned down a call to the University of Hanover .
In addition to his apprenticeship, Lüderssen also worked as a criminal defense lawyer . In 2000 he retired.
Lüderssen's teaching was characterized by an enlightened and liberal attitude as well as a great interest in the basic conditions for criminal law and for punishment in a democratic society. He introduced his students to criminal law on the basis of the topoi of "crime and criminalization" . In the 1970s and 1980s, in cooperation with Fritz Sack , he endeavored to combine critical criminology with law . This project can be seen as a failure. Lüderssen later distanced himself from the critical criminology of Sack's expression. Until the mid-1980s, he mainly dealt with the penal system. During this time, together with Clemens de Boor and Herbert Jäger, he headed the Institute for Psychoanalytic Sociotherapy and Criminal Sociology, which was funded as a project by the German Research Foundation . Since the late 1980s he has been interested in the “productive reflections” (one of the book titles) of literature and law .
Lüderssen has published extensively and was editor of the criminal defense journal .
Klaus Lüderssen lived in Frankfurt am Main. He was married and had two children.
