Klaus Milbradt

Klaus Milbradt (* 28. February 1940 in Stettin , German Empire , † 20th November 2007 in Berlin ) was a German gymnast in the GDR and DTB - Germany coach . He was three-time GDR champion in 1959, 1961 and 1964 on the pommel horse for SC Lok Leipzig . He also started in international competitions for the gymnastics team of the GDR. After his gymnastics career in the 1960s, he completed a degree as a sports teacher in Leipzig and was first individual coach and from 1980 head gymnastics trainer of the Chemistry Halle sports club . Milbradt was from 1990 the first national gymnastics trainer of the reunified Germany, whose gymnastics team won the bronze medal at gymnastics world championships in 1991 . Before the Summer Olympics in 1992 , he resigned as DTB national coach because he was overwhelmed by the double burden of being a base coach at the same time. After that he worked as a trainer at the federal gymnastics center in Halle (Saale) until his retirement in 2001 . His son is the former gymnast and young national coach, Jens Milbradt (* 1969).
