Klaus Schindling

Klaus Schindling (born September 9, 1968 ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and mayor of the city of Hattersheim am Main since 2016 .

Life

Schindling grew up in Kriftel . He attended the Friedrich-Dessauer-Gymnasium in Frankfurt am Main , where he graduated from high school in 1988 . He studied law at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and graduated in 1996. He then worked as a freelancer in the waste disposal industry.

From 2005, Schindling was a member of the city ​​council of Hattersheim am Main in addition to his professional activity . He was able to defend his mandate in the subsequent local elections , most recently in March 2016 .

On March 6, 2016, he ran for the mayoral election in Hattersheim am Main. He achieved 38.4% of the votes cast and was second behind the incumbent Antje Köster from the SPD , who had received 47.0%. Since none of the candidates had the necessary majority of the votes cast, a runoff election took place on March 30th . This time Schindling was able to prevail against his opponent with 50.5% to 49.5%. He took office on October 1, 2016. At the same time, Schindling resigned from the Hattersheim city council.

Schindling is married and has two children, a son and a daughter.
