Klaus Steinbrenner

Klaus Steinbrenner (born June 5, 1935 in Frankfurt am Main , Germany) is a German sculptor who lived and worked in the USA for many years .

Life

Klaus Steinbrenner is the younger brother of the German sculptor Hans Steinbrenner . Klaus Steinbrenner attended the art school in Offenbach am Main from 1955 to 1958. From 1958 to 1963 he worked as a sculptor together with his brother as an artist couple in the sculptor group Hans & Klaus Steinbrenner in Frankfurt am Main.

From 1964 to 1968 he worked as an architect in Frankfurt. In 1968 he moved to Chicago , Illinois , USA. He worked there as an architect for the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill . In 1970 he resumed his work as a sculptor. He moved to Wisconsin in 1983 and Framingham , Massachusetts in 1985 . He worked as a sculptor in his own studio. In 1993 he moved to Philadelphia , but set up his studio in Dooneen, Ireland. In 2000 he moved to Ireland for good.

Klaus Steinbrenner works as a sculptor with wood and stone. He forms his abstract sculptures out of massive blocks, but leaves the original blocks in their basic structure.

His first solo exhibition took place in 1960 in the Galerie am Dom in Frankfurt am Main. Together with his brother they were represented as Hans & Klaus Steinbrenner with a “ Large Wooden Figure ” in 1964 at documenta III in Kassel in the “ Aspects 1964 ” section.
