Klaus Wilhelm Ruprecht (born May 18, 1940 in Breslau ) is a German ophthalmologist and was director of the eye clinic at the Saarland University Clinic in Homburg / Saar.

Life

Klaus W. Ruprecht studied human medicine at the Universities of Tübingen , Vienna and Hamburg from 1960 to 1966 . In 1966 he received his doctorate. After further training in pathology and anatomy in Hamburg and working as an assistant at the University Eye Clinic in Hamburg , he was admitted as a specialist in ophthalmology in 1974. Since his retirement in 2005, he has been increasingly active in charity. a. in the planning and organization of an ophthalmic clinic in Bait Jala in the Palestinian Territories .

Scientific career

Ruprecht completed his habilitation at the Tübingen Eye Clinic in 1979 and was authorized to teach ophthalmology. At the University Eye Clinic Erlangen he became permanent representative of the clinic board in 1986 and in 1989 head of the vitreous and retinal surgery section. From 1989 until his retirement in 2005 he was a full professor of ophthalmology at the University of Saarland and director of the University Eye Clinic Homburg / Saar.

His main areas of work were ophthalmological histopathology , eye and general diseases and the morphology of eye changes in drug therapy. The Ruprecht Majewski syndrome is named after him. In 2000 Ruprecht founded the LIONS horny skin bank Saar-Lor-Lux , Trier / West Palatinate .
