Klaus Weyers

Klaus Weyers (born November 21, 1933 in Krefeld ; † January 24, 2019 ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and author .

Life

As a child, Klaus Weyers came to Finsterwalde as part of the Kinderland deportation , where his parents followed as victims of the bombing war. He learned the trade of bricklayer and made up his Abitur at the Norbertinum in Magdeburg . He studied in Erfurt Catholic theology and received on 17 December 1961 in Neuzelle the sacrament of Holy Orders . After years of chaplaincy in Cottbus, Neuzelle and Lauta, he worked in the Diocese of Berlin from 1969 to 1977 , among other things as a spiritual teacher at the language course for candidates for priesthood in Schöneiche near Berlin . Then he was spiritual at the pastoral seminar in Neuzelle and employee of the pastoral office in the diocese of Görlitz . He spent his retirement in the Archdiocese of Berlin since 2001 , most recently in Gransee .

Since the mid-1970s he has been a regular columnist for the church press in the GDR , especially for the St. Hedwigsblatt of the Berlin diocese. From 1990 he wrote for the follow-up papers Katholische Kirchenzeitung for the Archdiocese of Berlin , Katholische Sonntagszeitung and until his death for the Lord's Day . Many of his columns were collected in book form. He also published a number of books about the Neuzeller monastery church and explaining church rites, objects and traditions.
