The Small Telekie ( Xerolekia speciosissima (L.) Anderb. , Syn .: Telekia speciosissima . (L.) Less ) is a plant from the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).

features

The Kleine Telekie is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of (15) 20 to 45 centimeters. The plant forms a short rhizome . The upper stem leaves have a heart-shaped base and encompass the stem. The lower stem leaves are elliptical and narrow into the stem, the middle ones measure 10 to 15 × 4 to 7 centimeters. All of them are stiff with protruding nerves. Only a flower head is formed. This has a diameter of 4 to 6 centimeters. The outer bracts have a long herbaceous tip. The flowers are golden yellow.

The flowering period extends from June to July.

Occurrence

The Kleine Telekie occurs in northern Italy in the Alps between Lake Lugano and Lake Garda . Here the species grows on limestone and dolomite rocks and heaps.

use

The little telekie is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens. It has been in culture since 1826 at the latest.
