Nature reserve

The nature reserve Kleiner Falkenstein was created by VO. of the government of Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate of October 31, 1939, RegAnz 315 established. It was about 17 hectares and was added to the Bavarian Forest National Park in 1997 when it was expanded. The rock bars on the Kleiner Falkenstein were once one of the most important climbing areas in the Bavarian Forest. The corresponding climbing rocks Falkenwand, Ant Wall, Hermit Towers and the Richterwand, which towers between the small and large Falkenstein, are closed for nature conservation reasons. Exceptions are only made for active members of the Zwiesel Mountain Rescue Service for exercise and training purposes.
