The small Friedrichskopf is a 3059  m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Schober group in Carinthia ( Spittal an der Drau district ). The summit was first climbed by the farmer's sons Manhart from Sagritz near Döllach ; Otto Böhm and G. Heinsheimer climbed the east face on August 10, 1923.

location

The Kleine Friedrichskopf is located in the east of the Schobergruppe in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park in the northwest of the municipality of Mörtschach, close to the municipality border with Großkirchheim . The summit is located east of the Großer Friedrichskopf ( 3134  m above sea level ), from which the Kleine Friedrichskopf is separated by the so-called Kleine Friedrichsscharte. From the summit, the striking east wall slopes down into the Gartlbach valley , to the north is the elongated northeast ridge of the Großer Friedrichskopf, to the south its south-southeast ridge with the Relischscharte ( 2790  m above sea level ) and the Weißen Kopf ( 2925  m above sea level ).

Promotion opportunities

The normal route to the Kleiner Friedrichskopf leads through the southern dividing gorge between the Großes and Kleiner Friedrichskopf. The entry to this gorge is from the south-facing cirque, which can be reached via the Relischscharte or from the Gartlalm. The ascent to the Relischscharte starts at the Wangenitzseehütte , from which you choose the north-facing ascent to the Upper Prititschscharte and then descend into the Prititschkar to reach the largest of several mountain lakes. The ascent then briefly follows the Prititschbach and then crosses to the north into a cirque, from which one climbs up to the Relischscharte on the east side. The variant via the Gartlalm first follows the hiking trail from Döllach to the Gartlalm and then continues west to the cirque on the south side of the gorge. The final ascent through the gorge is a climbing ( II + ). Alternatively, the Kleine Friedrichskopf can also be climbed from the Garlalm via the east face ( III + ).
