The Wangenitzseehütte is a refuge of the Lienz section of the Austrian Alpine Club . It lies at an altitude of 2508  m above sea level. A. in the Austrian Schober group . It is located in the Hohe Tauern National Park directly on the Wangenitzsee ( 2464  m above sea level ), the largest mountain lake in the Schober group with 0.189 km². The hut is supplied by a material cable car from the Debanttal and is open from about mid-June to the end of September, depending on the weather.

history

In 1927 the first hut was built by the Brno Moravia section of the DuOeAV . In 1947 this building was looted and burned down. In 1966 a new and larger building was inaugurated. Until 2009, the Wangenitzseehütte was a club hut of the NKBV ( Nederlandse Klim- en Bergsport Vereniging , German: Dutch climbing and mountain sports association). In 2009 the Lienz section of the PES took over the hut.

Approaches

  • By car from Lienz in East Tyrol to Nußdorf-Debant , from there on the goods road into the Debant valley to the Seichenbrunn car park at 1686  m above sea level. A. After the Seichenbrunn car park, turn right over the Debantbach and on the well-marked path to the Niederen Seescharte ( 2533  m above sea level ) and from there on between Kreuzsee and Wangenitzsee to the Wangenitzseehütte. Walking time around 3 hours.
  • By car from Lienz in East Tyrol over the Iselsberg to the Raneralm car park, from there on the Wiener Höhenweg No. 918 to the Obere Seescharte ( 2604  m above sea level ) and a short descent to the Wangenitzseehütte. Walking time around 4 hours.
  • By car from Carinthia to the Mölltal near Mörtschach through the Wangenitztal to the Wangenitzalm parking lot, from there the hiking trail No. 928 to the Wangenitzseehütte. Ascent time around 4 to 5 hours.
