The lesser green- nosed cuckoo ( Phaenicophaeus viridirostris ) or naked-forehead cuckoo is a species of bird from the cuckoo family (Cuculidae) and belongs to the genus of the Malkohas ( Phaenicophaeus ).
It comes on the Indian peninsula from Goa and Odisha to Sri Lanka , also in Gujarat and Maharashtra and is a resident bird .
Its distribution area includes secondary forest , with thorny plants or other bushes, often with Euphorbia antiquorum , existing areas.

The little greenhorn cuckoo is about 39 cm tall and weighs 77 g. The cuckoo is greenish in color with a light green beak. The head is slate gray, the wings are shiny blue-green, the chest and throat are dark gray with light gray structures. The featherless blue eye-spot and the long, stepped black tail with white tips are characteristic.

The male's rare call is described as a croaking “kraa”.
Way of life
The diet consists of large insects , caterpillars , grasshoppers , terrestrials , cicadas , beetles , as well as lizards and fruits .
The breeding season is mainly between March and May, but is possible all year round. The nest is a thick shell covered with green leaves close to the ground up to a height of 1–2 m. Two chalk-white, rounded eggs are usually laid.
Danger
The little greenhorn cuckoo is not considered endangered ( Least Concern ).
