Early childhood education

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Early childhood education (also preschool education , toddler education or elementary education ) is a subject area of education that focuses on the age group of those under six, their parents and the institutions involved (e.g. crèche , kindergarten , preschool ) and the specific tasks of education.

Training or study

In Germany, early childhood education is the subject of training at technical schools for social education and in Bavaria at the technical academies for social education , whose graduates with the qualification of state-recognized educators are primarily employed at institutions in the elementary sector.

Until a few years ago, early childhood education could only be studied in a few universities. There were no basic courses of study for early childhood education. In most cases, these were personally set priorities within the framework of courses in social pedagogy at universities of applied sciences or educational sciences / pedagogy at universities .

In cooperation with several universities that have been offering courses in education, supervision and upbringing in childhood at Bachelor and Master level since 2004, educational content and teaching methods for the professionalization of early childhood teachers have been developed across universities . Graduates from these courses have been referred to as childhood educators since 2011 .
