Kleinwend is a district of Großlohra in the Nordhausen district in Thuringia .
geography
The corridor around Kleinwendel lies on the northern edge of the northwestern foothills of the Hainleite ridge . The land flattens out to the north, followed by smaller hills in the hilly agricultural terrain . The Wipper runs in the valley . In addition to the state road 3080 and the Kassel railway hall , the federal motorway 38 runs through the site. The surrounding area is well developed in terms of traffic.
history
The first documentary mention of Kleinwenden took place in 1344. Kleinwenden and Großwendi probably originated as Slavic settlements in the Middle Ages , hence the name. Land cultivation shaped and still shapes the place. In the 1950s, farmers also had to take the path of forced collectivization and after the political change they found new forms of ownership for working in the countryside.
In 1843 a 3.25 kilogram heavy meteorite fell near Kleinwend and was registered under the name "Klein-Wenden". Its largest surviving piece is now in the Museum für Naturkunde (Berlin) .
On July 1, 1950, the community of Großlohra was created through the amalgamation of the previous communities of Friedrichslohra, Großwend and Kleinenken.
