The Neumarkt Clinic is a clinic in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate , which is run by the Neumarkt district through the Neumarkt district clinics idOPf. operated as a municipal company. It is classified as a care level II hospital (specialty care) .

The clinic is located in the west of Neumarkt on Nürnberger Straße between the Holzheim district and the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal . The building, which dates from the 1960s, has been completely renovated and extensively expanded for several years.

history

Was first documented in 1381, the location just outside the town of Neumarkt infirmary . This was located 700 meters outside the city walls on the road to Nuremberg in the immediate vicinity of the St. Anna Church, which was later built there . Around 1800 the poor house was also used for general medical care for the sick.

On March 4, 1831, the city council of Neumarkt decided to build a new hospital. Reasons for this were, in addition to medical care for the population of Neumarkt, also the construction of the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal , which repeatedly resulted in serious accidents. The two-story building was inaugurated on October 15, 1837. The hospital had 30 beds, twelve sick rooms, an operating room, a bathroom and two kitchens. In the years 1926 and 1952, major extensions and alterations were made, which were considerably expanded between 1960 and 1970. The sponsorship also changed from a special purpose association between the district and the city of Neumarkt to sponsorship by the district of Neumarkt idOPf. In 1988 the Neumarkt Clinic was recognized as a teaching hospital of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg . Since January 1, 2005, the Neumarkt Clinic has been operated as an independent municipal company in the Neumarkt district. In 2012 the clinic celebrated its 175th anniversary.
