The originally municipal hospital belongs to the municipal hospital network Klinikum Region Hannover in the Hannover region . The Siloah is an academic teaching hospital of the Hannover Medical School . In September 2014 the KRH Klinikum Siloah was merged with the KRH Klinikum Oststadt-Heidehaus in a new building at Stadionbrücke 4 and was named KRH Klinikum Siloah-Oststadt-Heidehaus for a transition period of two years. It has had its original name again since 2016.

history

Listed old building of the hospital

The nucleus of the hospital was a clinic opened in June 1896 in the then independent town of Linden on Falkenstrasse ( Linden-Mitte ). It was a kind of polyclinic in which the patients were cared for at home by nurses from Henriettenstift .

When the home care no longer met the requirements, the deaconess station Siloah zu Linden with ten beds was inaugurated on June 30, 1899 . The association "Poliklinik Linden with Siloah" was the sponsor. The clinic was expanded by 20 beds by 1900.

In 1907 the city of Linden bought a plot of land on Petristraße for a new hospital building. The 70-bed house was inaugurated on May 23, 1909 and later expanded several times. The hospital was taken over by the city of Linden in April 1913. It was expanded to include five specialist departments (ophthalmology, gynecology, ENT medicine, urology and neurology). At the end of the First World War , the hospital already had 300 beds. With the incorporation of the city of Linden into Hanover in 1920, the city of Hanover became the sponsor of the hospital.

During the Nazi era , the clinic was called Ricklingen Hospital . Significant parts of the hospital were destroyed by the air raids on Hanover during World War II. The number of beds of 280 existing in 1945 could only be achieved through overcrowding in the sickrooms.

After two years of construction, a new building was inaugurated in 1957, which accommodated the internal medicine and surgery departments. The number of beds increased to 434. From 1966 to 1969, the new construction of the surgical clinic was built along with other facilities such as the bed center and central kitchen. In 1970 the Siloah became the academic teaching hospital of the MHH , which had been founded a few years earlier .

1998, all hospitals in the city of Hanover were in the new house operation Klinikum Hannover summarized. The hospital was now called the Siloam Clinic . In 2005 it was incorporated into the municipal hospital association Klinikum Region Hannover together with the other hospitals that are sponsored by the Hannover Region .

The building ensemble on Ritter-Brüning-Straße is now a listed building .

Other areas are radiology , central sonography , the oncology center, the prostate cancer center, the colon cancer center and the hernia center. The central laboratory and the central pharmacy are responsible for all hospitals in the Hanover Clinic.

The emergency doctor vehicle NEF4 of the Hanover fire brigade is stationed at the Siloah Clinic .

In 2010, 15,511 inpatients and day-care patients were treated with an average length of stay of 6.2 days. During the same period there were 12,443 outpatient cases.

The Oststadt-Heidehaus and Siloah clinics were merged at a common location in September 2014. The foundation stone for the new building was laid on September 15, 2010. The hospital was originally supposed to open in mid-2014. The construction costs amount to 192.5 million euros.

The new building was erected in the south-eastern area of today's clinic premises. 575 beds were created, nine operating theaters in a central operating area, an interdisciplinary intensive care unit with 60 beds, an interdisciplinary cardiological-radiological intervention area with left heart catheter measuring stations, an interdisciplinary endoscopy , a pathology department and a laboratory.

The Siloah building from the 1950s and 1960s, which caused high maintenance costs, is to be demolished after moving into the new building. The listed old buildings will be preserved and were included in the new building planning. The administration is housed here. The main means of access for visitors has been relocated through the new building to the south of the stadium bridge, where the tram stop of the same name provides a connection to local public transport.

Personalities

The first medical director and head of surgery was Curt Roesebeck , who ran the hospital until 1936. Roesebeckstrasse, where the entrance to the now closed part of the hospital building was located, was named after him in the early 1970s.
