history

In 1909, the city council of Traunstein decided to build a new municipal hospital, which was only used for civilian purposes from 1919 due to the First World War. During the Second World War, the city hospital was a reserve hospital. The reorganization took place in 1947: the surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, ENT and X-ray departments were housed in the hospital on Cuno-Niggl-Straße, and the internal medicine department in the Prinz-Ludwig-Heim .

From 1963 the hospital was enlarged to 420 beds. In 1970 the operating rooms, radiology and infant ward were accommodated in the new functional wing. A children's ward was set up in 1987. In 1988, the new functional area with central warehouse, bed center, operating theater, anesthesia, endoscopy, ambulance, X-ray, urological ambulance and helicopter hangar for "Christoph 14" went into operation. In 1989 the ward block, physical therapy and dining room were added.

From 1981 a functional area with intensive therapy, nuclear medicine, cardiology and EKG was created, and in 1997 a neurology department was set up. The outpatient care has been expanded with a day care clinic for children and a pain clinic, an operative day clinic and a radiation day clinic.

In 2002 the district clinic was renamed Traunstein Clinic. In 2004, children's surgery and a psychosomatic ward were opened. In 2005, the cooperation with the clinics of the Berchtesgadener Land district began , from which the Kliniken Südostbayern AG emerged in 2010. In 2009 the medical emergency and palliative care unit was opened. In 2011, the outpatient surgery center and, successively, the specialist medical center (FÄZ) opened in the newly built diagnosis and therapy center (DTZ).
