The Bonnaigue Monastery (Bona aqua, Notre-Dame de Bonnaigue) is a former Cistercian abbey in the commune of Saint-Fréjoux in the Corrèze department , Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , in France , around 7 km east of Ussel (Corrèze) .
history
Founded in 1143 probably Benedictine joined in 1147 as a daughter monastery of Kloster Obazine the Cistercian order and was thus one of filiation of Cîteaux Abbey . In the 18th century, under Abbot François Dulac, a renovation took place. During the French Revolution , the monastery was closed in 1791. It was then used for agriculture.
Buildings and plant
The one- nave , three- bay church with a flat end of the choir is used for agriculture today. In the area of the disappeared cloister there is a fountain bowl from the 16th century. The castle-like development of the former south wing of the enclosure was probably built towards the end of the 17th century.
