The monastery Lannoy (Alnetum) is a former abbey of the Cistercian Order in France . It is located in the commune of Roy-Boissy in the Oise department , Hauts-de-France region , around four kilometers west of Marseille-en-Beauvaisis and around 19 kilometers northwest of Beauvais .

history

Founded in 1135 in Briostel in the Petit Thérain valley , but moved to its later location two years later, it belonged to the Congregation of Savigny . With this it joined the Cistercian Order in 1147 and submitted to the filiation of the Clairvaux Primary Abbey . In 1592 it was besieged and set on fire by the Huguenots . The church was badly damaged. In 1658 the vaults of the ship collapsed, which was then shortened. The monastery had four granges in Vieux-Brio Stel, its founding, Thieuloy, Belval and Orsimont. In 1790 the monastery was closed during the French Revolution.

Buildings and plant

The abbot's house, the building of the farmyard, the mill and the fountain of the cloister have been preserved from the complex in an unspoilt valley. The guest building and the 17th century courthouse (classified as a monument historique ) still stand from the abbey . The church was demolished in 1810. In 1967 the pillar of one of the chapels in the ambulatory was discovered. Subsequent excavations have uncovered the choir and transept with the chapels as well as some gravestones and remains of the pavement.
