The monastery was founded in 1132 by Foulques de Réon and occupied by Cistercians from the Primary Abbey of La Ferté , whose third daughter monastery it was. The daughter monastery Sturzelbronn was founded as early as 1135 . The monastery had thirteen granges , including Prodhun not far from Autun , l'Epervière, l'Égoutier and la Gorge not far from the monastery, le Répand, Cissey and Corcelotte in the municipality Mercueil , Beauregard in the town of Demigny , Buet in the town of Dracy -le-Fort , Bel-Air ( Rochepot commune ), Aubigny, Chenôve, the Blangny and Morgeot wineries and a house in Beaune . It was looted in 1560, 1580 and 1595, but rebuilt in the 17th century. It was disbanded in 1790 or 1791 during the French Revolution .

The brick wall belt with three portals, a mill and stables from the 17th century, a cellar, the so-called castle and the former abbot's building have been preserved. A three-meter-high statue of Christ has found its way into the church of Saint-Loup, the organ into the church of Seurre. Items of equipment have also come to other churches in the area.
