The Preallo Monastery (Santa Maria di Preallo, today Porale, in Provencal : Bric du Puà) was a Cistercian abbey in what is now Liguria , Italy . It was in Ronco Scrivia , between the rivers Scrivia and Lemme in what is now the metropolitan city of Genoa , near the border with Piedmont (municipality of Arquata Scrivia ), at 835 m asl (Monte Porale).

history

The monastery was founded in 1153 by hermits who followed the rule of St. Augustine followed, founded and probably joined the Cistercian order in 1237. At the same time it was subordinated to the Rivalta Scrivia monastery as a mother monastery. Thus it belonged to the filiation of the primary abbey of La Fertè . 1401 is named as Abbot Manfredo. In the 14th century the monastery fell into Kommende and in 1481 the community was extinguished. In this year the abbot title was transferred to the regular canon priory of St. Theodor in Genoa.
