The nature reserve Klosterschranne - Faulunger Stein is in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia . It extends north and northeast of Faulungen , a district of the rural community of Südeichsfeld . The state road L 1003 runs on the northeastern edge of the area and flows the Frieda , a right tributary of the Werra . The L 2034 runs along the southern edge and the B 249 to the south .

The 298.3 ha area with the NSG no. 203 was placed under nature protection in 1996.
