The Klotoppen ( Norwegian for claw peak , Japanese 鷹 の 爪 峰 Takano-tume-mine , German ' Falkenfanggipfel ' ) is a 1909 m high mountain in the center of Sør Rondane in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It forms the northwestern branch of Svindlandfjellet on Walnumfjella .
Japanese scientists took aerial photographs between 1981 and 1982 and 1986, and carried out surveys from 1985 to 1986 . In 1988, they named it descriptively after its shape. Scientists at the Norwegian Polar Institute translated this name into Norwegian in 1989.
