Bones to Ashes ( Bones to Ashes ) is the tenth mystery novel of US writer Kathy Reichs . It was published in 2007 by Scribner Verlag , the German translation by Klaus Berr was also published in 2007 by Karl Blessing Verlag .

When an old teenage skeleton is found in northern Canada, Dr. Temperance "Tempe" asked Brennan to investigate. She suspects that it is the remains of her childhood friend, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the 1970s. With her sister Harry she goes in search of the family of her friend who disappeared at the time. When murdered teenage girls are found, Dr. Brennan a connection.
