Totenmontag (original title: Monday Mourning ) is the seventh detective novel by the American author Kathy Reichs . It was published on July 14, 2004 by Scribner-Verlag , the German translation by Klaus Berr was published by Karl Blessing Verlag in December 2004.

A cold and dreary Monday morning in December develops for the main character of the novel, the forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance "Tempe" Brennan , on the real Monday of the dead : they are called because the skeletons of three young women were discovered in the cellar of a pizzeria. With the help of modern measurement methods, Brennan can prove that the women were only murdered a few years ago and not long ago, as her partner in the investigation, Luc Claudel, claims, in order to be able to close the case. This corpse find marks the beginning of the novel and is the beginning of investigative work, in the course of which the protagonist's apartment is devastated, her friend Anne disappears without a trace and Brennan almost dies.
