The Knollige cranesbill ( Geranium tuberosum ) is a plant of the genus geranium ( Geranium ) in the family of geraniaceae (Geraniaceae).
features
The bulbous cranesbill is a perennial herbaceous plant with a short, bulbous, edible rhizome . The stem is erect and 20 to 30 centimeters long. The leaves are 5 to 10 centimeters wide and finely pinnate to the midrib, with linear sections.
The flowers are in dold-like inflorescences. The hermaphrodite, radially symmetrical flowers are five-fold. The five petals are deeply incised and purple-pink with darker veins.
The flowering period extends from April to May.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.
Occurrence
The tuberous cranesbill occurs from the Mediterranean region to western Iran .
