Knud Bartels (born April 8, 1952 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish general a. D. From 2009 to 2011 he was in command of the Danish Armed Forces . He was then chairman of the NATO military committee from 2012 to 2015 .

Life

Bartels grew up in a diplomatic family and therefore speaks English and French . He is married and has four children.

In 1977 he was a lieutenant , 1982 Captain 1987 Major 1992 Lieutenant Colonel 1996 Colonel 2001 Brigadier General and in the same year , Major General , 2006 Lieutenant General and 2009 general.

From 2006 to 2009 Bartels was Denmark's military representative in the EU and NATO.
