Wolf developed his first own games in the mid-1970s. The first game that was published was published by FX Schmid in 1974 under the name Hoppla Tante and was a revision of the game Mensch ärgere dich nicht . According to his own statements, he developed the game as a sextant , as it was played in its version with six figures per player. The publisher reduced the number of characters to four and renamed the game. In the following year, the publisher published the game again slightly modified under the title Avanti . He also developed suggestions for improving existing titles. This resulted in many years of freelance editorial work for several game publishers. He recorded successes for Dampfross , which was named Game of the Year in 1984 after its adaptation , as well as Café International in 1989 . The rules of the game for Reinhold Wittig's game Hotu Matua , written by Wolf, received the Essen pen in 1991 as the best rules of the year.
In 1977 the first edition of "Wolfs Wirtschaftsbrief" appeared , which was renamed Die Pöppel-Revue a year later . When Wolf sold the magazine to Friedhelm Merz at the end of 1985 , the circulation had risen from the original 6 to 1,000. At the end of 1995, Wolf started KMW's Spielpl @ tz , one of the first German-language websites about board and card games, and made his initials his trademark. In 2000 the w. nostheide publishes the website and made it the online edition of its Spielbox magazine under the name spielbox.de . Spielbox has been cooperating with the spiel.de portal since 2014, so that the database established by KMW is maintained and maintained there.
Wolf was a member of the jury for the Essen spring from 2000 to 2010 and has been a member of the jury for the International Gamers Award since 2008 .
