Knut Höhler (born February 7, 1983 in Göttingen ) is a German athlete and extreme obstacle runner who used to be a triathlete . He has been part of the Brooks Running Team since 2010 and competes for the LG Olympia Dortmund .

Career

Knut Höhler attended the Felix-Klein-Gymnasium Göttingen .

He was initially active for several clubs, including Hannover 96, in the Triathlon Bundesliga before he almost exclusively devoted himself to extreme obstacle courses. In September 2006 he was third in the Xterra UK Championship (cross triathlon: 1.5 km swimming, 30-40 km mountain bike and 8-12 km cross-country run).

He started for the first time in 2008 at the second StrongmanRun at Niederrhein Airport on the Lower Rhine. After 1:12:03 h, he was the first athlete to cross the finish line on the former military site. A total of over 4,000 runners started and reached the finish line after 16 km and 26 obstacles. In 2009 he was able to repeat this success. He also competed in the Polish Bieg Katorznika . In 2010, Höhler celebrated a victory at the StrongmanRun and the Lake Run at Möhnesee .

In 2011, Höhler started for the first time in the legendary Tough Guy Race in Wolverhampton . In the long history of the run, no foreigner had managed to win this race. After 1:11:34 hours and four minutes ahead, Höhler reached the goal. After the run he was a guest on TV Total with Stefan Raab .

In 2012 Höhler again took part in the "Tough Guy Race". Despite a bleeding head injury, he crossed the finish line first after 1:11:50 h. There the wound had to be sewn with nine stitches.

Just a week later, Knut Höhler started the indoor trail at the premiere in Dortmund's Westfalenhallen. A gastrointestinal virus weakened the medical student, however, so that he "only" landed in second place. After finishing third in the StrongmanRun in 2011 , he regained the title in 2012. Almost 11,000 runners started in the world's largest obstacle course. After 1:38:14 hours and with a lead of over a minute, Höhler was the first to cross the finish line. In 2012 he also finished third in Gettingtough - The Race . At the StrongmanRun 2013 he retired due to injury.

In January 2013 he ran in the television show Alle auf den Klein , where he competed against Oliver Pocher . He could beat him and win 80,000 euros.

Knut Höhler completed a medical degree in Göttingen, which he completed in 2013 and is currently being trained as a specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery . He is in a relationship and has a son.
