Ko Jong-su (born October 30, 1978 ) is a former South Korean soccer player and current coach . He last played as a player for Daejeon Citizen . Most recently he was under contract as a trainer at Daejeon Citizen.
Career as a player
education
He was educated at Kumho High School , which he attended from 1994 to 1996. He then signed a contract with Suwon Samsung Bluewings .
Player career
His first stop as a player was the Suwon Samsung Bluewings . With the Bluewings he was able to quickly celebrate his first successes. In 1998 and 1999 he was able to celebrate the South Korean Championship twice in a row. In 2002 he was able to win the Korean FA Cup . In 1999, 2000 and 2001 he won the Adias Cup three times in a row . He also won the South Korean Fire Cup in 1999. In addition to these successes, he was also able to win the Supercup in 1999 and 2000. He was also able to celebrate successes internationally with Suwon. He also won the AFC Champions League in 2001 and 2002, as well as the Asian Super Cup in the same years. In 2003 he left the Bluewings for a season. On loan, he moved to the J1 League to Kyoto Sanga . There he ran 13 times and scored one goal. After the end of the season he went back to Suwon. By the end of 2004 he ran 96 times for the club and scored 21 goals. In early 2005, he moved to the Chunnam Dragons . He didn't play up often for her. In total, he came to eleven missions, where he scored one goal. At the end of 2006 he left the club and went to Daejeon Citizen . By the end of 2008 he played for her 24 times and scored two goals. After the end of the 2008 season, he ended his playing career at the age of 30.
International career
In 1996 he was appointed to the national team for the first time. By the year 200 he ran a total of 10 times for the U-23 selection and scored two goals. From 1997 to 2001 he was also nominated for the South Korea selection , for which he ran 38 times and scored six goals.
Career as a coach
After the end of his career it was quiet around him until 2011. In 2011, his former club Suwon Samsung Bluewings announced that they had signed him as assistant coach of the U-18s. Half a year later he became the first team fitness trainer. From 2013 he took over the post of assistant coach of the 1st team. He held this position until the end of 2017. At the beginning of 2018 he left the Bluewings and signed a contract as a coach with his former club Daejeon Citizen .
