Koba Pchakadze ( Georgian კობა ფხაკაძე , English transcription: Koba Pkhakadze; born January 7, 1984 in Kutaisi ) is a former Georgian boxer . His greatest achievement was winning a bronze medal in the lightweight at the 2009 World Championships .

Career

Koba Pchakadse started boxing in 1993. In 2003 he won the silver medal in featherweight at the European Cadet Championships in Lithuania and the World Cadet Championships in Romania. At the 2005 World Championships in China he was eliminated in the second preliminary round, at the 2006 European Championships in Bulgaria in the round of 16.

At the European Championships in England in 2008 he only just failed in the quarter-finals to Miklós Varga (6-8), while he won a bronze medal at the 2009 World Championships in Italy ; he had prevailed against Aurimas Naudžius (17:10), Gabriel Podaşcă (16: 2), Mehdi Ouatine (17: 3) and Eugen Burhard (9: 2) before he won the semifinals to Domenico Valentino (2:15) failed.

At the European Championships 2011 in Turkey he was defeated in the preliminary round against Josh Taylor (12: 12+), while he reached the third preliminary round at the 2011 World Championships in Azerbaijan .
