The rural municipality of Kohtla-Nõmme ( Kohtla-Nõmme vald ) is located in Ida-Viru County in northeastern Estonia .

Kohtla-Nõmme is about ten kilometers from the town of Kohtla-Järve . The rural community has an area of 4.7 km². 1,032 inhabitants live on it (as of January 1, 2010).
The population density is 220 inhabitants per square kilometer. It is one of the smallest and most densely populated rural communities in Estonia.
The history of Kohtla-Nõmme is closely linked to the oil shale that was quarried here between 1937 and 2001. The Kohtla-Nõmme Mining Museum offers expert tours of the original tunnels.
Transmitter mast Kohtla-Nõmme
To the south of the village there is a 254 meter high transmission mast for broadcasting television and FM radio programs. It is the fourth tallest structure in Estonia since 1984.
