The Kola River ( Russian Кола ) is a river on the Kola Peninsula in Murmansk Oblast in Russia . The river is 83 km long and has a catchment area of 3,850 km². The river flows north from Lake Kolosero and flows into Kola Bay , about 10 km south of Murmansk . The Tuloma River also flows into the Kola Bay at Kola , about one kilometer west of the Kola. The mean flow rate is 43.6 m³ / s, but there are strong seasonal fluctuations. The largest tributaries are the Kiza (Кица) and Orlowka (Орловка) from the right, the Tjuchta (Тюхта) and the Medweschja (Медвежья) from the left. The only town on the Kola River is the town of the same name.
