Kolporter SA
The Kolporter SA is a press distribution companies in Poland. Together with RUCH SA , it dominates the Polish press distribution market. In addition to press products, everyday items ( FMCG ) are also sold . According to the company, around 36,000 sales outlets are supplied. The company from Kielce , organized as a holding company , is majority owned by millionaire Krzysztof Klicki , who is planning an IPO for Kolporter .
history
The name of the company is derived from the Polish word Kolportaż (press distribution). After the introduction of the market economy in Poland, Klicki started delivering the daily Gazeta Wyborcza in 1990 . At first he mainly supplied retailers in the PSS “Społem” chain. He quickly expanded what began as a commercial activity and only in Kielce into a regional press wholesaler . The first branch of the young company was opened in Katowice , then Wroclaw followed . After a nationwide sales network was soon established, in 1993 Klicki began producing sales stands and selling non-press products. Various subsidiaries were established in 1995: Kolporter Service (FMCG sales) was founded in 1997 and Kolporter Sieci Handlowe ( convenience shops ) in 2001 ; In 2002 we succeeded in taking over a major Warsaw competitor, Jard Press SA. In the following years, further companies were founded and these subsidiaries were renamed frequently. At the end of 2009, its own e-book reader was launched.
In spring 2011, the conversion into a stock corporation (SA) was completed. However, an IPO planned for late autumn had to be canceled due to a bear market on the Polish stock exchange .
In 2012, Kolporter was ranked 54th in the list of the 500 largest Polish companies published annually by the weekly Polityka . The company sees itself as number 1 on the Polish media market ( Cyfrowy Polsat is 99th and the Polish subsidiary of the Bauer Media Group is 146th in this ranking.) According to the daily Echa Dnia , Kolporter is the largest in the Heiligkreuz Voivodeship Companies.
From 2002 to 2008, Kolporter was a sponsor of the Korona Kielce football club , which was subsequently promoted to the Ekstraklasa . Due to a corruption scandal in the club, Kolporter ended his sponsorship.
