Commander of the sea defense Tromso
The commandant of the sea defense Tromsö , short sea commander Tromsö , was a regional coastal commander of the German navy in World War II , whose headquarters were in the port city of Tromsø .
history
After the German occupation of Norway in July 1940, the Navy set up the command post of the Arctic Coast Sea Defense , which was initially subordinate to the Admiral of the Norwegian north coast and in August 1940 moved to the newly created area of the Admiral of the Norwegian Arctic Coast , which was also based in Tromsö . At the same time, the agency received its new designation Maritime Commander Tromsö .
The command of the sea commander stretched from the Finnish - Russian border in the north to the Finnfjordbotn in the south. During the war, first the area of the sea commandant Kirkenes (March 1941), then the area of the sea commandant Hammerfest (March 1942) and finally parts of the area of the sea commandant Harstad (January 1945) were outsourced.
