Local elections in Kürten

The local elections in Kürten take place every five years. The municipality Kürten belongs to the Rheinisch-Bergisch district .

history

In May 1994 the citizens' association Citizens for Citizens Kürten / Free Voters was founded in protest against the decision not to extend the supply contract with the provider RWE , but to favor BELKAW .

In the local elections in 1999, 2004 and 2009, the CDU was the strongest parliamentary group.

Five associations are applying for the municipal council of Kürten in the 2014 municipal elections : CDU, BfB Kürten Free Voters (BfB), FDP, SPD and Greens. There are 16 constituencies.

The incumbent mayor Ulrich Michael Iwanow (CDU) resigns in 2014. Six candidates apply for the successor: Marc Beer (CDU), Werner Conrad (citizens for citizens / free voters), Bernd Sassenhof (FDP), Werner Steffens (SPD), Lilly Braun (Greens) and the free candidate Willi Heider.
