The Kondrauer mineral and medicinal Brunnen GmbH & Co KG is a Bavarian beverage manufacturers with the main brand "Kondrauer mineral water ". The company is based in Kondrau , a town in the Waldsassen community in Stiftland in Upper Palatinate .

history

A Kondrau mineral spring was first mentioned in 1281. Cistercian monks from the Waldsassen monastery drew mineral water there. From 1668 onwards, Elector Ferdinand Maria Kondrauer had mineral water transported to the Fürstenhof in Munich . In 1803 the spring became state property until it passed into private ownership in 1897. In the same year, the fountain company became the supplier to the royal Bavarian court , which is represented today with white and blue diamonds and the Wittelsbach coat of arms in the company logo. In 1920 the wholesaler and bottle dealer Valentin Werner and his wife Antonie bought the fountain. Since 2007 their grandchildren, the siblings Ursula Klupp and Otmar Seidl, have owned the company.

At a press conference at the end of March 2019, Kondrauer announced that production in Kondrau would be discontinued at the end of 2019, and from 2020 onwards, all production would take place in Naila. The company headquarters, administration, cash sales and parts of the logistics would remain in Waldsassen. This step was justified with high investments in Waldsassen and that not enough water for Kondrau's needs could be extracted from the springs. As early as 1980, Seidl's grandparents and a partner founded another production site in Naila, Frankenwald Mineralbrunnen-Getränke GmbH & Co. KG. "Each of the three most powerful springs there produces as much as all four springs in Kondrau put together." A bottling plant from Kondrau is expected to be installed in Naila, and the site is to be modernized and a new bottling plant purchased.

Companies

The company is based in a medicinal spring protection area of around 200 hectares . Between 100,000 and 400,000 bottles of mineral water are filled there every day. According to its own statements, the beverage manufacturer achieves sales “in the double-digit million range” and employs around 120 people. Jonas Seidl is the managing partner; Ralf Brodnicki is the managing director for marketing and sales.

In 1998 the company built a filling plant for PET bottles in Naila Hell.
